Problem. The transverse shear force recovered from the shell element is tested. It must be constant along a cantilever strip and linear along a simply supported strip.

Reference document. The reference is statics.

On a simply supported strip the shear force varies linearly along the span.

Qx(x)=w(L2−x)Q_x(x) = w\left(\dfrac{L}{2} - x\right)

On a cantilever strip the shear is constant along the span and equal to the applied line load.

Qx=−qQ_x = -q

Numerical model. The strips are modelled with twelve by two quadrilateral shell elements. Values are read at the element centre.
